As we ring in the new year and look ahead to 2023, we are happy to announce some exciting updates to Themes Harbor.
We have made a number of changes to improve the user experience and make it easier to find and purchase the professional WordPress themes.
Now let’s dive into more detail about the changes.
This page displays a brief introduction, along with a list of products, reviews and other additional information.
The previous version of the page was functional, but we wanted to align it with the new theme design of our store. Also, the goal was to simplify the page.
The new version of the page still includes a brief introduction and a list of products, as well as a review section and additional information.
However, the products section now includes quick navigation links. Also, the page displays all available premium themes.
We removed the theme features section from the Home page and added it to each individual theme page.
Now, the Home page displays a few recent posts from our blog, which also serves as a knowledge base.
This displays available professional WordPress themes.
The previous version of the page had a grid layout with three columns, each displaying a thumbnail, title, and subtitle.
New version of the page shows list of themes instead of grid.
Additionally, each list item on the page, in addition to displaying a thumbnail, title, and subtitle, also shows two additional links: “Get theme” and “View demo.”
This means it is now possible to view the theme demo without needing to open the theme showcase page.
This page displays a full information about a WordPress theme.
The previous version of the page used a custom solution that was hard to maintain for each theme. Additionally, it did not work well with the new store structure that uses blocks.
Also, all the theme showcase pages had the same layout, which made it difficult to make unique changes to a specific theme page without redoing the page’s functionality.
The new version of the page utilizes blocks, both default WordPress blocks and our own custom blocks, which allows us to easily edit each theme showcase page within the Block editor.
This means we can make unique changes to each page without needing to modify a lot of code.
Now, the page layout consists of the following sections:
- Helpful links
- Frequently asked questions
This page displays information about the changes made to premium themes currently sold at our store.
The previous version of the page was functional, but we wanted to make it more compatible with new generation of WordPress themes, which are based on a block-based structure.
The new version of the page displays a list of all premium themes from out store, along with the current version number and a link to view the changelog.
When clicking on the link, a modal window will open with a list of all changes made to the theme.
The modal window is based on the same technology that the WordPress core uses for the navigation block, which makes it much more accessible.
About Us page
This page displays information about Themes Harbor.
The previous version of the page had some readability issues and the content was not very well organized, which made it difficult to follow the text on the page.
The new version of the page is broken into four main sections:
These sections include information about company, principles, the person who founded the company, and the story behind the company’s name.
Also, the new layout now has three main areas: titles, primary content, and secondary content, which makes it easier to scan the text on the page and improve readability.
This page provides a way to get in touch with a Themes Harbor team via email.
The previous version of the page had a few issues, including a confusing form that required users to choose between self-hosted (WordPress.org) or fully hosted (WordPress.com) and a busy layout that made it difficult to follow the form.
The new version of the Contact page addresses these issues.
The form no longer includes the option about the platform, and the layout is less cluttered.
To make the form filling process easier for users, hints have been added and the form adjusts based on the selected fields. This simplifies the process and helps users complete the form correctly.
This page provides answers to the most common questions.
The previous version of the page used a custom solution for the table of contents section and had a two-column layout, which made it difficult to edit the page.
The content was also hard-coded to a custom template, which made it difficult to make changes to the page.
The new version of the page uses only default WordPress blocks. Thus, the page no longer uses custom solutions or templates, making it easier to edit.
The page has two sections: a table of contents and the actual content. When clicking on a topic link within the table of contents section, the page scrolls to the selected topic section.
This display reviews shared by professionals regarding Themes Harbor and its products.
The previous version of the page used Jetpack for the testimonial feature. Also, Jetpack provided this functionality through the use of Custom Post Types.
However, the goal was to reduce the plugin dependence. So, we decided to use a static solution instead of CPT to display the testimonials in our store.
The new version of the page displays reviews in a one-column layout. Each review section displays a quote, image, name of the professional, and occupation.
Even though CPT functionality provides more flexibility, we decided that we do not need that level at the moment. Therefore, we chose a simpler solution.
Support Center page
This page provides links to help answer support questions, including the knowledge base, customization, frequently asked questions, personal support, and support policy.
In the previous version of the page, the layout was mixed. Specifically, the first four sections were displayed in a grid and the last section was full-width in the page content area.
The new version of the page has a more cohesive layout, with all sections displayed in a list.
Store related pages
These pages provide account-related information and functionality to our customers:
- The Dashboard page displays a list of orders, each with brief information and links to the purchase receipt, invoice, and license settings.
- The Checkout page displays all currently added products to the cart and includes a purchase form.
- The Login page includes a form and hints to help users enter their login information.
- The Purchase Receipt page displays full information about a purchase, including the license key and download link.
- The Purchase Confirmation page is similar to the Purchase Receipt page, but it is only displayed after a purchase has been made.
- The Licenses page provides full information about a license key and includes links to manage the key and extend the license or manage the sites where the key is used.
In the previous version of these pages, we used custom solutions and the layout was not very intuitive.
Also, there was a lot of information on the pages, which made the layout and navigation complex.
Additionally, it was not possible to visit the Home page when logged in due to an automatic redirect to the Dashboard page.
In the new version, we simplified the page layout and made navigation easier.
We have also adopted a block-based functionality for most of the pages, which simplifies the process of editing the pages.
Moreover, it is now possible to view the Home page of Themes Harbor even when logged in.
It displays posts on topics about the platform, plugins and themes.
In the previous version, the documentation portal was hosted on a different platform. This created a disconnection between the store and the documentation.
The new version of Documentation is now an integral part of the store and makes navigation at Themes Harbor more user-friendly.
It still displays posts on topics related to the WordPress platform, plugins, and themes, but now it is powered by our blog.
Note, we are still working on finalizing the updates to Documentation and expect to have them completed soon.
Overall, we have made a number of updates to our online store, Themes Harbor. These updates aim to improve the customer experience and make it easier for customers to find the information they need.
These updates include changes to the Theme page, Home page, Contact page, FAQ page, Testimonials page, Support Center page, and the Shop-related pages.
We have adopted a block-based functionality for many of these pages. This simplifies the process of editing the pages and allows us to make unique changes to each page.
At Themes Harbor, we always strive to improve the customer experience and we welcome any feedback to help us continue to improve the store and our products.
