Hermes

Hermes is a unique and modern theme evoking a sense of minimalism, elegance, and simplicity. It’s perfectly suited for creative bloggers in any field.

Activating Your License

Our premium products come with a license key, which is needed in case you want to receive automatic updates and support for as long as your license is valid. While premium products are fully functional without entering a license key, you won’t get notifications about updates in your WordPress dashboard.

So, it’s better to keep it active to gain access to security updates, bug fixes and new features. Learn how to locate your license key and activate it.

Recommended Plugins

We highly recommend to install Jetpack plugin which provides powerful features previously only available to WordPress.com users. Jetpack is developed by Automattic, the makers of WordPress.com.

After the plugin was installed and activated, you will be asked to connect to WordPress.com. If you don’t have a WordPress.com account, you can create one. It’s totally free and easy. Note, it does not force you to build a site on WordPress.com.

The reason you should connect to WordPress.com is because many of Jetpack modules are integrated with specific robust functionality of that platform.

Infinite Scroll (Jetpack)

By default, the theme does not provide Infinite Scroll functionality. This feature comes from Jetpack. Once the plugin is installed and activated on your site, go to your Dashboard → Jetpack Settings where you will find an option to enable or disable Infinite scroll on your site.

Blog page

If the footer widget area is empty and Infinite Scroll is active, your site will automatically load seven posts at a time. If you have footer widgets or have turned off Infinite Scroll, you’ll need to click “Older posts” button to load more posts. In that case, we recommend setting five, eight or 11 posts per page in order to avoid gaps in your layout. You can configure the number of posts displayed in Settings → Reading, next to “Blog pages show at most.”

Social Menu

Hermes automatically displays links to your social media profiles as icons, using a Custom Menu. You can learn how to set it up here.

Supported social media sites include:

Setting the Sidebar Position

If the sidebar is active, it will be displayed on the right by default. You can also choose to move it to the left.

  1. Navigate to Appearance → Customize → Theme.
  2. Select your option from the dropdown list under the Sidebar Position label.
  3. Click Save & Publish.

Setting Up The Full-Width Template

Create or edit a page, and assign it to the Full-Width Page template from the Page Attributes box.

Widget Areas

Hermes offers two widget areas, which can be configured in Appearance → Widgets.
