Custom Menu

WordPress allows easily create a custom menu, which can be used as a navigation menu for your site. The menu location can vary depending on the theme you are using, and some themes come with additional menu locations such as social links menu.

Creating a custom menu does not require any coding skills. You can do it within WordPress dashboard. Also, there is no limit on how many menus you can create. So, each menu location can have its own custom menu. Moreover, you can also use custom menus in conjunction with the Custom Menus widget.

To add a custom menu to your site, follow these steps:

  1. In your dashboard, go to Appearance and select Menus.

  2. Enter your menu name, and click Create menu.

  3. On the left you have your Pages, Links, and Categories that can be added to the menu. Simply select a menu item that you want to have in your menu, and click Add to Menu.

  4. By default you will see Pages, Links, and Categories in the left column. However, if you want to add Posts or Tags to your menu, you can display these items by clicking on the Screen Options tab in the top right corner of the screen.
  5. When you have your menu items arranged in order, select a menu location (if needed) and click Save Menu.
